The Film Budget vs. U.S., Worldwide Gross of the Top 10 Major Studio Films 2015
FilmBudget.com compiled a list of the film budget of the major hollywood studio movies released in 2015 versus the U.S. theatrical box office, the international theatrical box office grosses and worldwide gross theatrical revenue to compare the budget to gross theatrical revenue.
This is the Part 2 of our film budget vs. theatrical gross report following up on Part 1 which examined The Film Budget, Domestic & Worldwide Grosses of the Top Indie Films of 2015
Listed below in the chart are the top movie releases of 2015 with their corresponding film budget. U.S. gross theatrical revenue and international theatrical grosses are then combined for the worldwide theatrical box office gross figures.
A ratio is created dividing the film budget by the worldwide gross for each title for a film budget vs. gross comparison. It should be noted that this ratio excludes marketing costs, which can be equal to the movie budget of the film production. Including the studios releasing expense of Prints & Advertising (P&A) would potentially reduce this ratio metric by 50%. Likewise excluded are studio overheads and reduction of gross revenue by exhibitor returns (generally estimated at 50% although technically on a sliding scale split between theaters and the studios over the time period of release.)
